Funding Options for your Orthosis

At the time of writing Orthotic Management is not covered by Medicare. Neither Appointments nor Orthoses are funded by Medicare. However, many hospitals will fund orthoses for inpatients. Some hospital departments have funding available for the ongoing Orthotic management of specific patient groups. Otherwise, public funding for Orthoses is only available for clients with a recognised permanent disability. Funding may be available via Extras Cover if you are a member with a private health fund.

Orthotic Funding Sources for recognised permanent disability

  • State Wide Equipment Provision SWEP
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme NDIS
  • Transport Accident Commission TAC
  • Workers Compensation WORKSAFE
  • Department of Veteran Affairs DVA
